Details: Top is chopped 3 ½ in rear and 3 5/8 in front with “A” pillars laid back 7 degrees. Grill is from a 1932 English Ford. The body is channeled 2 ½ in rear and 4 ¼ in front. The engine is a 1957 Chrysler 392 backed by Turbo 400 and Gearvendors OD. Rear end is a Halibrand Champ with 4.26 gears. I get 12 MPG when I try and less than 1 MPG when I don’t.
This is my idea of a hot rod. It’s not cutting edge new or period perfect for any particular time. It’s just the result of many years of ideas, a little talent and a lot of determination. I wanted it to look wild and be fast yet dependable. I spent 7 years building and re-doing it. It came out just as I envisioned it at the beginning except for the color. I never had much confidence in my metalworking skills. All along it was intended to be mean looking flat black with flames. I changed my mind after it had a little filler and primer on it. I’m glad I did. With the green it took on a happier personality that makes kids young and old smile. I love driving it and seeing the expressions on people’s faces as I pass. It’s just the icing on the cake. It did come up a little short in the storage department so I’m now building a trailer to pull behind it. See ya on the road!
