About my Classic

1963 Classic 770 Wagon - Built in 2003
This car was built as a daily driver, so I didn't go overboard on the engine. Averages 20 mpg with manual shifted auto trans. Engine is a 1987 0.030" over AMC/Jeep 4.0L with a 0.44" longer stroke (1974 4.2L crank and rods), making it 4.6L (280 inches). Produces around 300 hp gross, and around 310 ft/lbs gross torque. Rear suspension is a 1987 Jaguar IRS on a custom crossmember. The only four wheel independent suspension/disc brake Rambler in the world (excepting the "Ferrambo", which really isn't much Rambler any more)! Transmission is from an 88 Jeep Cherokee, the AW-4. Computer was fried, so I made a manual gear selector box and left it that way... clutchless stick shift! Power seats and console are from a 1990 Eagle Premier, tilt steering column from a late 80s S-10 w/ Jeep three spoke steering wheel. Currently has a T-bird power rack and pinion steering gear on it, but that will probably go -- it's way to sensitive! Uses the stock AC evaporator mated to the 87 Jeep Sanden compressor.
