This 'sports custom' was built in the late 1940's in Emmaus, Pennsylvania by Robert Rader, an employee at Mack Truck. It's based on a 1934 Ford cabriolet. With a 6" body channel, it melds 1940 Mercury front fenders, 1940 Ford rear fenders, and a 1937 Packard windshield into a sports custom style before Europeans made it popular. Loads of custom metal work, fully welded and leaded, attest to Rader's skill. He later installed a nearly new 1955 Chevy 265, replacing a hot flathead. His family kept the car until 1994, preserved as he built it. A true survivor. I'm looking for any period magazine coverage, or personal photos or stories, of the car to fill in more of its history.
